Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, (TIFR), Mumbai hereby invites applicants for Walk-in-interview for one position of PROJECT ASSISTANT and one position of PROJECT FELLOW for Astronomy Olympiad Cell and NIUS Astronomy at HBCSE.
Job Description: The
candidate will be responsible for academic support of astronomy
Olympiad actives like preparing pedagogical material for training of
students in Astronomy at the plus two level and science popularisation
activities.
Qualification:
The candidates should have a B. Sc. or M. Sc. degree in Physics or
related subjects with minimum of 50 % marks. Candidate with knowledge of
night sky observation will be preferable. Strong interest in Astronomy,
Astrophysics and teaching is desirable.
The position is purely temporary, for one year in the
first instance and extendable by one or two more years. A consolidated
honorarium will be paid as follows.

For Project Assistants with Master’s (M.Sc.) degree - Rs. 10,000/- during the first year, Rs. 11,000/- during the second year and Rs. 12,000/- during the third year + HRA 30% in lieu of Government accommodation.

For Project Assistants with Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree - Rs. 7,500/- during the first year, Rs. 8,500/- during the second year andRs. 9,500/- during the third year+ HRA 30% in lieu of Government accommodation.
Age: Below 25 years. (Relaxable up to five years in deserving cases)

PROJECT FELLOW – ONE POSITION (NIUS ASTRONOMY)
Job Description: The candidate should be interested to work in a research-oriented environment in the field of Astronomy. The main task will be
1. Designing and monitoring undergraduate level research projects in Astronomy.
2. Preparing pedagogical material for training of students and teachers in Astronomy at the undergraduate level.
Qualification & Experience:
The candidate should have M. Sc. degree in Physics / Astronomy with at
least 55% marks and some additional skill and experience relevant to the
job. Experience of working in Linux-based computers is desirable.
The position is purely temporary, for one year in the first instance and extendable by one or two
more years at a fixed honorarium of Rs.
12000/- p.m. to 16000/- p.m. depending on quality of skills and/or
experience, with enhancement of the slab by Rs. 1000/- per year up to
Rs. 16000/-p.m. House Rent allowance in lieu of government accommodation
at the rate of 30% of the honorarium will also be paid.
Age: Below 30 years (relaxable up to five years in deserving cases)

One latest photograph. 4) In the event of the committee finding the
candidate suitable, applicants in Govt. / Semi-Government / Public
Sector undertakings /Autonomous body must produce No Objection
Certificates from their employer.
Outstation candidates belonging to SC/ST are entitled for ordinary/Mail/Express second class return railway
fare. This concession is not admissible to those SC/ST candidates who are already in Central/State Govt. service.
